Intended for all those social media butterflies looking for a better visibility in your business (also those caterpillars still sleeping in the cocoon)
Facebook? Duh!!!; Twitter? Of course; Linkedln? Yes buddy, also Instagram, Snapchat and Snapchat , what else (yaaawwwwwn)
Ok so you know the big guys. And you thought that was all? Read on to find out how your business can be influenced by which platform. For this we categorize the types of social media based on their target audience.
Social Networking sites : These are your everyday giants – Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln and need no introduction to their purpose where anyone can post, share, like/dislike or rip apart anyone or anything. There are brands and marketers open to public comments by their followers and also private groups targeting a specific audience alone for better relevance
Media sharing: Naming a few – Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, Imgur the top names in the world of Image marketing . Reason? Simple – a picture can speak a thousand words ; for the lot whose forte does not include reading lengthy sales pitches (psst; images create a virtual hype around your brand)
Also are video sharing platforms like YouTube and Vimeo for sharing anything right from how to open a phone from its package to teaching complex sciences, anytime beats the need to squint and scroll. All you do it just watch.
Discussion forums ; reddit, Quora : Though mostly intended for discussing opinions, information and news, the reach and following these forums generate is immense. People’s thirst for information is the main aspect driving the massive success of such platforms. From personal experience I must say of all the above, Quora remains my favourite for the down to earth views and lending a human touch to a virtual world – heartening to know there are people like you and I out there who speak their minds out
Interest based ones for books, music, gardening, photography – just about any hobby or interest, there’s one for everyone.
Online shopping sites like Amazon, Flipkart or Bigbasket, the list is endless
Review networks like Tripadvisor, Triphobo, Zomato, and these could take your business to heaven or hell because of their frank reviews from real user ratings
Blogging networks like WordPress, Tumblr – they enable business to gain visibility and increased awareness through Content Marketing.
There’s also a segment of Anonymous Networks which have zero visibility and most definitely not meant for promoting business and best to steer clear of.
More content to follow on the intricacies and nuances of each segment and which suits what business to subtly or blatantly advertise your presence.
